Business Administration

Overview

The purpose of the Business Administration program is to provide students with the fundamentals of business administration skills and knowledge which can be applied in a variety of entry level jobs.

Students will learn skills needed in business and industry such as computer literacy, numeracy, and cross-cultural communications as well as develop a basic knowledge of accounting, management, economics, marketing and organizational structures.

Students who successfully complete the Business Administration program will have an excellent foundation in business and may be able to further their studies.
Graduates of the Business Administration will be eligible to apply for direct entry to the 2nd year of the two-year Business Administration Web Tech Specialty Diploma program which is also being proposed at this time.

Learning Objectives / Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the successful student will have demonstrated the ability to:

  • Demonstrate their knowledge of basic accounting systems, apply accounting principles of accumulation, external reporting and expert uses of financial accounting information.
  • Apply skills to prepare and analyze accounting information for shareholder and management use in partnerships and corporations.
  • Exhibit their familiarity with individual and group behavior in an organization.
  • Show their understanding of basic computer terminology; understand Windows and be able to use Microsoft Office tools including MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Understand how the economy impacts business, industry, and government decisions.
  • Understand the population trends of North America from a cross-cultural perspective, and the roles culture plays during social and business interaction.
  • Solve practical financial and math problems which are regularly encountered in the business arena.
  • Demonstrate their understanding of the functions of management including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling an organization.
  • Exhibit awareness of the marketing mix, known as the 4 P’s of marketing: product, price, place, and promotion.
  • Develop the ability to apply leadership theories and strategic management tools to assess organizational challenges and design actionable solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Analyze ethical dilemmas and corporate responsibility issues in business environments, applying ethical frameworks to guide decision-making and corporate strategies.
  • Utilize data analysis tools and business intelligence methods to evaluate business performance and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage projects from initiation to closure, applying industry-standard project management methodologies to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Create and implement digital marketing strategies, using tools like SEO, social media, and online advertising to optimize customer engagement and business performance.
  • Develop proficiency in office management tasks, including document preparation, communication, and customer service, to ensure smooth office operations and professional interactions.

Admission Requirements

  1. Basic Requirements
  • Applicants must provide a valid government-issued photo ID or birth certificate.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum Age: 19 years.
  • Mature Students (19+ without a high school diploma): May be considered based on work
    experience, resume, transcripts, and references. An interview may be required.
  1. English Language Proficiency

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Minimum scores from accepted English tests (e.g., IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, Duolingo 95, etc.).
  • Recent English proficiency test (within 2 years).
  • Proof of English-language education.
  • 2–3 years of secondary or post-secondary education completed in English in eligible countries.
